One of the best ways to connect is by joining us at an upcoming event.

How It All Began

As a powerhouse of innovation and engineering, Chicago has long been a hub for the design and construction industry. The journey began in 2024 with the passion of local leaders and grassroots events that highlighted the need for representation and connection in the queer community. With a vibrant mix of history, pride, and ingenuity, Build Out Alliance Chicago officially launched in 2025 to champion inclusion in the City of Big Shoulders.

Rachel Drouillard

Rachel recognized a significant gap in community and connection for queer professionals in the industry and was determined to fill it. Her passion for cultivating positive relationships and creating spaces for authentic interaction drives her leadership as co-chair. Rachel is focused on building a robust community for the next generation of queer professionals and collaborating with other LGBTQ+ organizations in Chicago to expand the reach and impact of Build Out Alliance.

Brian Homiak

Brian has been a dedicated force in the design, construction, and real estate industry for over 15 years, but it wasn't until he got involved with the Chicago group that he truly found his people. As City Co-Chair, he’s on a mission to increase the visibility of our Chicago group through fresh partnerships and meaningful engagements that go way beyond a simple business card exchange. Having worked across various cities, Brian knows that a resilient local community is the secret to professional success, and he’s thrilled to provide a structured, supportive space where our members can show up as their authentic selves.
